Propeller Size and What It Means

Propeller size is usually written as two numbers, such as 5.1×4.6. The first number is the diameter in inches and the second is the pitch. Diameter determines how much air the propeller moves and how much disc area it covers. Larger propellers generate more thrust and are more efficient, which is why 7-inch and 8-inch props dominate long-range and cinematic builds. Smaller 5-inch props are the standard for racing and freestyle because they spin up faster and respond more crisply to throttle changes.

Beginners usually benefit from durable, slightly flexible props during the learning phase, then move to stiffer props as their flying improves.
