Must-Print TPU Parts

Start with these five essentials. First, a camera cage soft-mount: TPU’s vibration damping cleans up mid-throttle oscillations better than any hard mount. Second, an antenna mount that attaches to the standoffs — a printed TBS Triumph holder costs pennies and saves the $15 antenna when you inevitably land upside down. Third, arm protectors for the motor bell: a 2mm TPU skirt around each motor prevents bent bells on concrete. Fourth, a GoPro session mount with integrated 25-degree tilt. Fifth, landing skids — simple but they keep your bottom plate off wet grass and protect the battery strap.

Printing Tips for Drone Parts

Use 95A Shore hardness TPU from a reputable brand like SainSmart or eSUN. Softer TPU (85A) is too flexible for mounts; harder (98A) is better for skids and armor. Print at 230°C nozzle, 40°C bed, with no part cooling fan for maximum layer adhesion. Set wall count to 4-6 perimeters — you want solid plastic, not infill. Designing Your Own Parts

Fusion 360 or Onshape are the standard tools. Start by measuring your frame with calipers — post spacing, camera dimensions, and standoff height. Design with 0.2mm clearance for press-fit parts. TPU compresses slightly, so undersized holes work better than oversized ones. Export as STEP for engineering, then STL for slicing. The Upgrade Path
