The Frame: Your Drone’s Skeleton

The frame holds everything together and takes the abuse in a crash. For a first build, a 5-inch freestyle frame is the sweet spot: big enough to be stable, small enough to be affordable, and endlessly repairable. Carbon fiber is the standard material — it is light, stiff, and strong. Cheaper frames save money but may use thinner arms that snap more easily. When you pick a frame, confirm the arm thickness, the mounting hole patterns, and that it has room for a stack, camera, and antennas.

The Stack: Flight Controller and ESC

The flight controller is the brain — it reads your stick inputs and sensors, then tells the motors what to do. The ESC, or electronic speed controller, is the muscle that actually drives the motors. The camera feeds a live image to the VTX, or video transmitter, which broadcasts it to your goggles.
