# How to Choose the Right Motors for Your FPV Drone
Motors are the heart of your drone’s performance. Understanding motor specifications is key to choosing the right ones for your build.
## Key Motor Specs
– **Stator Size**: Written as `XXYY` (e.g., 2207). `XX` is the stator width and `YY` is the stator height in mm. Larger stators generally produce more torque.
– **KV Rating**: RPM per volt. A higher KV motor spins faster but is less efficient. You must match KV to your battery voltage (lower KV for higher voltage).
## Common Pairings
| Frame Size | Stator Size | Battery | Use Case |
|—|—|—|—|
| 5-inch | 2207, 2306 | 4S-6S | Freestyle, Racing |
| 3-inch | 1404, 1505 | 3S-4S | Cinewhoop, Micro |
| 7-inch | 2806.5 | 6S | Long Range |
